'Deliver Us From Evil' (a.k.a. 'Evil Leaper 1') Story Code '68109' by Robin Jill Bernheim, Deborah Pratt and Tommy Thompson

19th March 1966: Once again Sam becomes Jimmy La Matta, the Down's Syndrome boy he leaped into two years ago. Sam is delighted at the prospect of spending time in the company of Jimmy’s brother Frank, his wife Connie, and son Corey – until he learns that the couple’s marriage is on the rocks. Al arrives with the news that Ziggy’s systems have gone haywire, and that history is inexplicably changing: now Frank and Connie’s marriage will end in divorce, and Jimmy will blame himself and be institutionalised. Learning that Frank has fallen for his attractive co-worker from the docks, Shirley, Sam tries his best to prevent the two of them becoming involved, but this only serves to make Connie suspicious. When Sam tries to reassure Connie he touches her arm, and before his amazed eyes the woman’s features suddenly change into someone else – Connie is really Alia, another leaper. Sam is exited at this discovery, particularly when he learns that Alia has her own holographic observer, the sardonic Zoey, and a sentient computer named Lothos. However, Al less trusting, suspecting that Alia’s actions are responsible for Ziggy’s disruption. As the two time travellers share their experiences of leaping Sam finds himself drawn to Alia – until she tries to seduce him and then blames Jimmy for attempting to rape Connie. With horror Sam realises that Alia works for the forces of evil – her mission is not to correct history, but to destroy it…
